When the only thing in your way is yourself…why not join us?
It has been one year and 7 months. I know that because LinkedIn tells me this not because it feels like one year and 7 months.
It feels more like 6 months.
When I reflect back on my post about building a research and service design practice inside a 90-year old institution from a little over a year ago, what’s interesting is I was hyper focused on building the foundation for the future team. I was barely thinking of the importance of finding and hiring the right people to help me build this foundation.
And yet, looking back at the past year, the most memorable moments (and moments I am most proud of) are the moments I’ve spent hiring, coaching and leading alongside this team that came together over these twelve months. Admittedly, the moments spent asking about security reviews of software or redlines of MSA’s are not high on my list — though important.
Together is better
At our annual strategy summit, Celeste Headlee of NPR was a guest speaker. She spoke about how individuals come together to make each other whole. You do not need to be an expert on all the things. When you allow other people to be the expert, you free up your brain to absorb knowledge so that you can become the expert on something else.
Great experiences are crafted by diverse teams with unique perspectives and skills that compliment each other. The team we are building is not only that, but they are also very good at knowing and truly seeing each other’s talents. This helps them come together as a team.
We are hiring Designers and Researchers
Our team is growing and we’d love to talk to you if you are a researcher or designer looking to come on this journey with us. There’s still a lot of work to do. The best part is you’ll have the leadership support, peer learning and tech resources to do it.
